About the League

Established in 2008, AFL Quebec is the governing body of Australian Rules Football in Quebec. Based in Montreal, it is comprised of both contact and non-contact leagues. AFL Quebec prides itself on being one of the fastest growing and best-run leagues in Canada and North America.

AFL Quebec’s current contact league consists of six clubs based in Montreal; two women’s division clubs (NDG Giants & Montreal City Blues) and four men’s division clubs (Old Montreal Dockers, Montreal Demons, Montreal City Blues, and West Island Eagles).

Like most leagues outside of Australia, AFL Quebec is a nine-a-side league. This is for numerous reasons such as promoting local player development and field availability.

The Montreal regular season generally runs from May until the end of September with 9 regular rounds of contact footy followed by a series of finals games.

Montreal also boasts a non-contact co-ed Winter League that runs 5-6 session programs during the November to April off season. These sessions include 1 hour of training and 1 hour of game play. Non-contact games are also played irregularly throughout the summer season.

Regional Clubs

Our regional clubs in Ville de Sherbrooke and Quebec City currently offer non-contact training sessions throughout the year.

Quebec Saints

AFL Quebec has both men’s and women’s representative eighteen-a-side teams – the Quebec Saints. They compete against other representative teams across Canada and the United States. These games occur throughout the season in one-off games or, more commonly, at an invitational tournament. Such a tournament is the annual AFL Quebec Women’s Tournament. The Saints also participate in both the AFL Canada and USAFL National tournaments.

Junior Program (AusKick)

After a successful 6 week inaugural junior program in Fall 2023 for children aged 3 to 15 years old, AFL Quebec is excited to continue to grow our program options for junior members with regular seasonal 6 week programs and introductory sessions taking place in local Montreal schools.

Mission Statement

AFL Quebec’s mission is to provide all individuals the opportunity to learn and play Australian Football in a positive and welcoming environment.

Our league is committed to providing a safe, inclusive and respectful environment for all members. AFL Quebec is a proud LGBTQIA+ ally and member of Équipe Montreal and we embrace diversity in our community. Bigotry and bullying of any kind will not be tolerated at practices, games, or other league events.
